Quality Control and Laboratory of Copper Tube Factory:

The high quality of Iranian Babak Copper Tube Workshop is achieved for two reasons: investing in the most modern production processes along with accurate product testing methods. The company guarantees the quality of its products based on the ISO 9001 quality management system certification. Effective implementation of quality assurance system ensures that the Iranian Babak products are produced in accordance with customer needs, national and international standards and regulations.

The quality control and laboratory department operates in three areas: Input material control, material control during production and quality control of the final products of the copper Tube factory, and the following tests are performed according to national and international standards:

  • Eddy Current test: In order not to pass non-uniform and defective products (pinholed and scratched pipes) and to ensure 100% soundness of the Tubes, this test is performed in accordance with the Iranian national standard INSO 16927 and ASTM standard E243 on all of the products by passing the Tube(during the production process) through the eddy current test machine (Rotating and Defectomat).
  • Chemical analysis (elemental): Elemental analysis is performed according to the national standard of Iran INSO 16927 and ASTM E255 standard in order to determine the chemical composition by Belec quantumeter. The amount of oxygen and hydrogen is also measured by the Eltra OH device.
  • Tensile test: This test is performed to determine the elongation and strength of products according to the Iranian national standard INSO 16927 and ASTM E8M standard.
  • Hardness test: This test is performed According to the national standard of Iran INSO 16927 and ASTM E18 and EN6507-1 standards; In order to determine the hardness of products.
  • Metallographic test: Metallographic examination and grain size determination according to Iranian national standard INSO 16927 and ASTM E112 standard, performed by optical microscope.
  • Dimensional control: Dimensional measurement (diameter and thickness) is done by micrometer in order to control dimensional accuracy and compliance with the tolerances mentioned in INSO 16927, ASTM B251, ASTM B280, ASTM B75, EN 1057 and EN 12735 standards.
  • Bending test: To check the pliability of the product
  • Expand test: To evaluate and measure tube expansion property.
  • Hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests: These tests are performed on the product in order to evaluate the tolerable hydrostatic and pneumatic pressures of the Tube according to the national standard of Iran INSO 16927, ASTM B75 standard and EN 1057 standard.

 

Quality control and laboratory of Cathode factory:

All materials in all production processes, including raw materials and inputs, products during production and final products, are carefully identified based on coding and identification number, and finally all items are analyzed and controlled.

The cathode quality control department operates in three areas as follows: quality control of raw materials, control of product processes during production and quality control of the final product.

Raw material quality control: To ensure the use of high-quality raw materials (concentrate, sulfuric acid, lime, ....) for better controlling the processes of product quality

Control of product processes during production: To measure and record the parameters (pH, DO, ORP, flow rate, etc.) and to Inspect the intermediate products and control intermediate processes in accordance with production indicators.

Product quality control: the quality control of the cathode production includes product appearance check, inspection of nodules, copper sulfate, burns, blackening and elemental analysis and determination of product grade according to ASTM B-115 standard.

The quality control department also monitors the following:

  • Correct and effective operation of equipment, testing tools and inspections
  • Employing of technically qualified personnel
  • Implementing the system of recording, maintaining and reporting the results and information of inspections and tests
  • Meet customer needs when ordering the product and customer complaints after product delivery

The cathode laboratory unit has the ability to measure the parameters and to do the chemical analyses required for solutions and solids in the production process to determine the quality and control of raw materials and products, in accordance with the written methods, taken from different standards of ASTM, ISO, national standards of Iran, valid references and scientific books and using classical and instrumental analysis methods and using instrumental equipment made by domestic and reputable German and Australian companies.

The laboratory is also ISO 17025 certified for the following tests:

  •  Measuring of copper and silver in copper concentrate according to ASTM E 2941, 18582 INSO, ASTM E 1898 standards
  •  Measuring of copper concentrate moisture according to ISO 10251, INSO 7563 standards
  •  Measuring of lime purity according to ASTM C 25: 2011 standard
  •  Measuring of sulfuric acid concentration according to ASTM E22, ISIRI210 standards
  •  Measuring of chloride ions in water and solutions according to INSO 2350, ASTM D 512 standards
  •  Measuring of iron and sulfur in concentrate and bioleaching by-products according to internal standard

The laboratory also analyzes gold of copper concentrate, by-products of bioleaching and does the analysis of cobalt, manganese and lead electrolyte solution by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy method

To maintain quality control of copper concentrate and by-products, the minerals are identified and studied in the mineralogy unit.
